2020 Aquatic Plant Treatment Update

The main treatment for invasive aquatic plants for 2020 occurred on Tuesday June 2nd.  Depending on conditions and outcome there may be some touch up treatment or a partial 2nd treatment.  The dealine to submit for 2020 has now passed. For next years’ program an email notification will be sent at the end of February or early March 2021.  Concurrently a treatment form will be posted to www.lakeowasso.org

The DNR permit process to enable aquatic plant treatment is lengthy.  As such the Lake Owasso Association (LOA) starts the permit process several months in advance.  To treat in early June, the LOA begins organizing toward that end in February.  If a treatment form is not submitted to the LOA early enough it can result in missing treatment for a year.  LOA board volunteers take reasonable efforts to accommodate submittals received shortly after the deadline.  However, at a certain point, the ability to accommodate late entries becomes a function of DNR turn-around time.  With hundreds – perhaps thousands – of other permit applications the DNR receives, approvals naturally require time.
