Owasso Boat Launch

Boat Launch

UPDATE: Starting Monday June 15th (due to construction) the Lake Owasso Public boat ramp will be closed for the summer. For additional information contact Ramsey County Parks’ Gus Blumer at 651-485-7500 or Rob Adams at 612-202-4640.

North Owasso Blvd will be under construction throughout 2020. There will be disruptions which will affect public boat launch access. There will likely be no parking available and launching may be limited at times. Any concerns you might have regarding boat launching contact:

Subject: Owasso Blvd Project/Park/Boat Launch – Update

As you may be aware, construction is moving along quite well with the nice weather we have been experiencing.  Currently the project work is focused on the park area stormwater infrastructure and utility work from the park east toward Rice Street.  Curb has been installed at the boat launch and along the street in the boat launch area.  We anticipate that the boat launch could have limited access for residents on the lake to remove boats/docks/lifts by the last week of September.  The boat launches will not be open to the general public since there will still be construction work going on into October.  But the first lift of pavement should be installed by then and the concrete curbs cured enough to drive a vehicle and trailer over.  Feel free to contact me or Tom with any questions.

Thank you,

Subject: Owasso Boat Launch and Construction Update

I hope everyone is doing well in these times.  The N. Owasso Blvd/Park Phase II construction project kicked off with a virtual meeting last Friday to discuss timing of the project parts.  I have attached a phasing plan which I will also have posted on the County Website under parks, construction projects.  The construction impacting the Owasso boat launch will not occur until after June 15th, weather pending.  So, until then, the Owasso boat launch will remain open for use.  The Wabasso launch will remain closed but Ramsey County Parks will move barriers for Lake Owners who would like to get their watercraft/docks in the water this spring.  I will provide regular construction updates for you as well as things start ramping up.   We also plan to post some signs at the launch just as notice for residents of the pending boat launch closure.

Phasing:

The project is broken into two main phases, with construction beginning at the west end of the N. Owasso Blvd corridor.  Some limited excavation may take place in the area of the park.  The second phase of the project will impact the east end of the road from Soo street to the park.  The last phase will be in the area of the park itself.  Construction will go into the early fall, but the launch should be accessible for lake property owners toward the end of September for removal of watercraft and docks.  I will keep everyone up to date as the season progresses.

Ramsey County parks appreciates your assistance with spreading the information related to this important public construction project/process.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Please contact either myself or Rob Adams at Ramsey County Parks.  Rob is the maintenance and Operations Supervisor.
