Ramsey County Park Ordinance Project

Ramsey County Parks is considering ordinance changes for all parks (including Lake Owasso County Park) to:

  • Respond to long-standing community feedback about park access.
  • Minimize or eliminate regulations that may be enforced in a discriminatory way, and increase racial inequity.
  • Modernize the ordinance and address contemporary park issues.

Information about the Park Ordinance Project can be found here. Additionally, you can view the compilation of responses that the community gave regarding this issue here. If you are interested in future announcements about Ramsey County Parks, you can subscribe here.

Commissioner Frethem has set up two conversation sessions: Saturday, October 23rd at 10:30 a.m. and Tuesday, October 26th at 6:30 p.m. These sessions are meant to update the public on the status of the ordinance, and for residents to advise Commissioner Frethem on questions that need to be asked during the park ordinance workshop in November. The sessions are scheduled for after information has been analyzed from the work that’s been done, and has been posted on the web, but prior to the workshop in which information is presented to commissioners for feedback.
